The story behind D'light
Thank you for visiting the D'light platform, if you are curious about why I started this project, this page is for you!
I am Maha, an architect, an artist and a sustainability specialist with a huge passion for making a difference in the society and in people's lives. I work as a sustainability specialist and building performance analyst at 'White Arkitekter' in Stockholm in Sweden.
D'light is a passionate project that I started in 2024 after I was almost done with the 'Sustainable Lighting Design' (SLD) project together with Isabel Villar (Lighting designer, White Arkitekter) where we produced a book that is availble on Amazon, and a podcast with over 5000 listeners. Both projects are funded by Bertil och Britt Svenssons Stiftelse which is a Swedish organization that supports researchers that focus on lighting questions.
After finishing the SLD project, I wanted to start a project where I can combine my creative and artistic side with the knowledge and experience that I have in the area of daylighting, basically joining everything that I love doing in one project. I also saw alot of research shared between specialists, so I was eager to spread this knowledge to everyone so that they can make better decisions and create an impact themselves whenever it is possible.
So then I started D'light, where i am combining visual storytelling and animation with knowledge about daylighting and lighting design in short videos that are hosted on this platform. So I research, write the scripts, get input from experts, draw, make storyboards with animation workflows and illustrate together an artist that produces the final work.
D'light is currently an independant project, I work on it on my free time and when I take unpaid leave from my work, and i am eager to develop this further in the future.
I hope that you enjoy the content!
